Summary of position:
Reporting to the President and CEO, the Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for the administration of the Quality Plan and has the authority to manage all work affecting quality. The Quality Manager will provide leadership for the development, implementation, communication and maintenance of quality systems policies and procedures for the Company according to the approved quality system. A primary goal is to achieve a high degree of joint ownership of quality and compliance strategies with all of the major operational stakeholders in the Company while addressing regulatory requirements in an effective, timely and responsible manner.
This position is responsible for:
- Accomplishing quality assurance human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
- Achieving quality assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; identifying and resolving problems; completing audits; determining system improvements; implementing change.
- Meeting quality assurance financial objectives by estimating requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Developing quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures; monitoring inventories.
- Validating quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
- Maintaining and improving product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; investigating customer complaints; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods.
- Preparing quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations.
- Updating job knowledge by studying trends in and developments in quality management; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Enhancing department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Acting as the Quality Assurance ISO9001 and AS9100 representative; responsible for the creation, maintenance, performance, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Acting as liaison between the company and both suppliers and customers to monitor, manage, and improve quality performance and address failures through effective problem-solving leadership.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in utilizing and applying Microsoft Office Products; Microsoft Project, Windows, Excel, PowerPoint
- Experience in multi-functional and product development teams required
- Excellent verbal skills required; excellent writing skills required
- Professional appearance and demeanor is required
- Ability to manage multiple high complexity projects required
- Must be an organized self-starter with good reasoning skills
- Familiarization or exposure to ERP/MRP Systems preferred
- Ability to interface effectively in international environments a strong plus
- Multi-lingual capabilities a plus (esp. French, German)
- Full competency with all requirements of the AS9100 standard is required.

- FMEA \ FMECA – Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, PDCA, six sigma DMAIC
- APQP – Advanced Product Quality Planning
- Aerospace FAI (AS9102 First Article Inspection)
- Direct interaction with Aerospace Primes (Boeing, Airbus, Northrop Grumman, NASA, etc…) is a major plus. Knowledge of: D6-82479, ABD0100, GRESS, ASQR-01, IAQG, HSM10, PQR1050, PMCA, IPCA and similar a major plus.
- Professional certifications (e.g. American Society for Quality (ASQ), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) desirable).
Experience/Education:
- Must have Bachelor's degree; engineering, mathematics, science or business degree preferred
- Target candidate will have at least 8 - 10 years related experience in management role, at least five directly with AS9100
